Cast no shadow

LS Lowry’s paintings of the dour, somewhat depressing industrial landscapes of the mid 20th century north of England often maintain a lightness and clarity because of their white background and because the buildings cast no shadow. This ceramic tile design, in whichever screen printed colours you wish, suggests old factories and industrial buildings with their chimneys, angular shapes and absence of shadow.
