Parting the ripples

Like a set of small stones thrown into still waters, the circular ripples of this design expand outwards from a series of centrepoints. The ripples are created by P06 and P09 Relief tiles in two different glaze colours, echoing the waist-high wainscotting (aka panneling) that protects walls and paintwork from dirty fingers and hard knocks. The circular ripples are not as perfect as the ones you would see in nature; they’re of differing thickness and some of the circles have a missing piece; and though it may not rank up there with parting the sea, the central ripples are nonetheless split with the flat pressed P00 tile, creating a new symmetry and another axis along which your gaze can travel.
